[glow=red,2,300] PROLOUGE [/glow] I dont know when it happened. When I got trapped, all because I listened to a voice in my head. When i started to break, and when i got caught inbetween in the lines of good and evil. All i know now is that my name is Grace Ledan, and I am trapped between the lines of demons and angles. I am trapped between misgivings and mistrust, and even i dont know who i am anymore. I am.......Buried Alive.

[glow=red,2,300][shadow=red,left,300]CHAPTER ONE[/shadow][/glow]
It was raining outside. It was raining. Outside? Upsurd! I tetter totter over to the window and gently prick the glass frame with my fingertips, the breath from my nose making whispy clouds across the cool barrier. I felt elation flow through me as i grin, and i turn around, look over my shoulder at my mother, and i keep my palm glued to the window as i speak to her. "Its raining mom. Its actualy raining! We`ll finally be able to get food!" i say, shocking myself at the thrill in my voice. My mother, who was sick not only physically but in the brain as well from cancer, smiled, the crinckles around her tired eyes streatching. "I know, sweetie. I just wish i could help you." she says, sighing and then looking down as she frowed at her fingers and began picking at her nails. The smile slowly fades from my face, and i look down at my shoes, pick up the patched cap from the nightstand we keep besides the thin wooden door, and i look back up at her. Slipping the cap onto my light brown hair, i nodd knowingly. "I`m going to go hunting.....i`ll be back soon." i hear myself say, and i open the wooden door and walk out.

[shadow=red,left,300]CHAPTER TWO[/shadow]
I paused once I opened the door, watching the rain fall with wide hazel eyes as it fell in currents off the roof. The treasured liquid fell off in buckets, filling our own pails which stood by the mud in front of our house. The buckets had been bone dry for as long as Grace could remember, which was a long, long time, and she couldnt remember a time when they were ever filled with fresh water. The goverment must feel gracious today, she thought, slicking the hat to her head, grabbing the game bag by the head of the house and then heading out into the endless drops of water. In Meridiem, Area 11, things were diffrent than areas 1-10. In Area 11, their major trading to the base was Driftwood, Fruit, Seafood, and any other oceanic properties, like salt and seaweed. They traded all this for only a meager box of food from the Base, the place where the goverment and all the wealthy people lived, and to insure that the people of area 11 stayed in their place. Grace hated this surely, for it seemed unfair to all the areas that were under the Bases control. All the people that lived in the areas were required to give all their food and water to the base, and what did they get in return? A weeks supply of food that was 'supposed' to last them six months?! She sighed and walked out, her game bag slung against her shoulder, and walked into the dense forest, made up mainly of pine, oak, poplar, and a few birch trees. Before she would be able to hunt for her mom and herself, though, she had one more thing to aqquire before she could do anything; her best friend, and one of her only, Jearr.

[shadow=red,left,300] [glow=red,2,300]CHAPTER THREE[/glow][/shadow] Grace sighed, rubbing her forehead with her hand, then stared up at the woods infront of her, covering her face so that any scattered raindrops wouldnt fall on her light colored eyes. She had been walking for about nine minutes, and Calpar Woods, the forest she had been searching for, was somewhat near her house. Sighing and sitting on a nearby boulder, she took the patched cap off her head and stuffed it inside her game bag, besides all the knives, arrows, tinsel, rope, salt, and the plastic wrap she had found only a few days earlier. By now, her light brown hair, which was streaked with dark brown, had fallen down in waves, and was turned a brown color that was close to black from the water falling from the sky. Glancing down at her hands, she counted all the scars on them, waiting patiently throughout the rain for her hunting partner to join her. There was a rustling sound from behind her, and she whipped her head around, staring at the bush that had made the sound. Standing up and slowly backing away, she reached for one of the pocketknives inside her bag. There was a cackle from the bush, and then it rustled once more, a large head popping up from the leaves. It was a dark colored animal, with black floppy ears, long canine teeth that were so long that they stuck way out of its mouth, huge claws, two tails, and small, black beady eyes. It made the cackling sound again by simply opening its large sharp mouth, and Grace`s eyes grew wide and she jumped back, but was caught by the shoulders by a tall boy, with short blond hair and just as many scars that could only be seen in the sun as she had. "Dont move." he said, breathing through gritted teeth. "Sure.......I`ll get right on that." whispered Grace, turning her gaze back to the sharp-toothed Catulinus.

[glow=red,2,300][shadow=red,left,300]CHAPTER FOUR[/shadow][/glow]
Grace held her breath and stared at the reptile-like canine with wide eyes, the pocketknife in her hand getting sweaty from the hard grip she kept on it. The Catulinus cackled once more and slicked out from the leady bushes, raising its sharp pointed noise into the air and sniffing. "I thought Catu`s belonged to The Base. Whats one doing out....here..." whispered Grace to Jearr, trailing off and gripping Jearrs gray water-proof jacket as she almost tripped. The Catulinus had turned toward them, its beady eyes sparkling, and it had licked its fangs with a thin sharp tounge and started towards them. "We`ve got to get out of here now." replyed back Jearr calmly, his gaze never leaving the Catulinus. The oil-black animal had padded next to Grace, and the both of them were being very cautious and keeping still, when the Catulinus barked a higher pitched tone, licked Graces hand (in which she shuddered after) and rubbed against it, much like a dog. Confused, Jearr released his grip on Grace and stepped back, while Grace petted the Catulinus, just about as confused as the boy standing next to her was. "Whats a reptile doing acting like a dog?" he said suspicously, eyeing Grace with a look she didnt recognize. "I dunno. Maybe its friendly? It might have been one of the Bases mutants. I mean, it has a tag." murmered Grace, pulling back from the Catulinus and kneeling down infront of it to grasp the tag hanging from its neck. The tag said nothing, but it had a speck of indigo on it, like it had been painted on there. The only problem was that the speck smelled like blueberries; Grace could only guess that the canine had ran into a patch earlier. "Grace...." sighed Jearr, rubbing his hand through his blonde hair and walking over until he kneeled besides her as well. "What are we going to do with this? You know this creature is only a subtle warning that the Base it coming. It was probaly a scout, their could be thousands like it coming this way." he said, reaching out a single finger and hesitatingly stroking its forhead with it. The Catunlinus bared it long teeth and growled at Jearr, but it didnt object to his pets. "Oh dont listen to him Indigo. Im sure your a good Catu, now arent you boy?" smiled Grace, grinning at Jearrs scowl and then hitting the Catulinus lightly on the nose. The Catu barked and wagged its two tails, panting as its slobbery tounge dangled dangerously out of its mouth as it seemed to grin. "Y-You named it?!" he said, looking at her with a half amused half shocked expression.
